The deep south
I've always used cheese and crackers and got pretty good results trapping various chubs, bluegill, suckers, and fathead minnows but am curious what you guys are all using? Specifically to target something other then what i have listed. Anyone think worms in a glass jar will work inside the trap lol?

I've heard of people spraying bait with WD-40 but since I don't fish I can't suggest anything beyond that.

When we need minnows we use bread.

Bar soap, cat food, dog food, and bread those are good stand bys. Tortilla and other grain products can take the place of bread. In well placed traps empty or baited we get sculpins, bowfin fry, as well as chubs, darters, perch, bluegill, bullhead, bass, crappie, crayfish, and the odd walleye or pike fry.

I always used old bread and some dog food. Dont understand why fish like dog food.

I've heard cat and dog food work well, but I personally never had any luck with them, I had good luck with hot dogs but that was for crayfish

Thanks for all the ideas everyone...ive been driving around with my trap for a week now gettin ready lol. Funny the thought of gum did pop in my mind before ill give it a shot. Ill have to try some cat food aswell as i have that on hand.
