Its Texas festae mix and I loved this fish miss him already

Wow! that's a beautiful thing. Festae colors underneath with nice texas pearls. High texas body instead of Festae long body.

That's what hybrid is about.

i think woofy is right, there is texas blood in him and maybe some mayan idk but that thing is awesome!

There no question of Herichthys in it. A little too colorful for me to say its Carpintis but I'm not ready to say its a Red Texas either.

Stay with me for a min, but I have a friend that had a tex cross with a pumpkin seed fish years ago. He caught the pumpkin seed locally and his male tex bred with her. Some of the fry looked like this. I know everyone says they can't cross but they did. Some looked like gray perch others like spotted orange and black Texas. Neat fish, not sure that's what this fish is but it reminded me of them. I would keep it .

IDK what it is a mix of, but it is a beautiful fish. Definitely something I would keep.

I think its more likely he thought he had a pumpkin seed and it was really anther CA Cichlid. Its impossible for Cichlids to interbreed with Sunfish. Its like crossing a pig and an elephant or a cat and a dog, just because they are both mammals does not mean you can cross them.
