my Pacus are growing and beautiful........

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I only wish that pacu wouldn't lose that coloration. When they look like yours Liz, they are some of the most beautiful fish in aquaria I think.

I'd love to have another but I am more than slightly concerned with how big they get and how quickly they get that big.

I heard you can keep them in a 20 gallon tall for life? Lol

Nice bright red near the operculum there.

Cool fish. Raised them as pets, raised them as food...I have one now that is slightly larger than a dinner plate, and although he has plenty of room to grow, warm enough water, and gets fed almost daily (responds to tapping and comes to the surface and opens his mouth for food) - he really doesnt seem to be growing that much anymore.

I think that pacu identification in the wild by collectors is probably pretty miserable, especially at small sizes. Heck, enough people get pacu when they buy piranha from LFS' that dont know what they are doing.

I would imagine that there are a similar amount of species of pacu as there are piranha...that morphology has proven very successful in SA. Who knows. Maybe some of us get smaller fish.

Nice lookin pacu

Indoor pond.. and yes the older they get the more personality and just a fun fish to watch.. they chew up the pellets you can actually hear them.. they are show offs.. thats why they are my favorites..
Nice, you gonna move the arowana to the pond too?

that would be a great idea.......... if she could handle the move.. sometimes you are better off the way they are.. so i will see... she is 9 years in the same tank.. very stressful for arrow to be moved.... but i would like that.
