how big of a tank would i need

I mean it's kind of hard to say exactly what tank size you need but its gonna be 300+ gallons for sure. I think footprint is gonna be important for you since most all your action is at the bottom. A 3 foot wide tank would be a big help in keeping the peace.

I wanted to say something in the region of that, but didn't want to sound like I was going ott. Glad someone else agrees with me! Something like 6x3 footprint or even 7x3 with not so much height. With all those bottom dwellers and caves for those that need it, anything smaller and swimming space will be limited. Just the eels for example can potentially hit 3 feet. You also have a lot of near 12 inch fish in there (potentially). You might be better off getting more tiger loaches instead of one of your species- the more you get the less aggression there is likely to be, at least as far as the other fish go.

That is a lot of fish for one tank. I agree with the 3 ft wide sentiment, as the large majority of those listed fish are bottom or lower area dwellers. I don't know if the pictus cats would work in there with something like a lima shovelnose (I don't have any actual experience with keeping them, but I'd be wary of keeping predatory cats with smaller pictus type cats).

thats why is swapped them out with Pseudopimelodus bufonius
and its not a lima its a Sorubim Elongatus which reaches 12in. instead of 18in.
