There are way to many bio media options available these days. I just wanted to know what is the top choices for everyone or what everyone is using and what they think about it.

I know there is bio balls, k1, k3, bio chips, what else is everyone using?

They all do the same thing, although it's the amount of square footage on each that supposedly makes one better than the other because there is more space for beneficial bacteria to colonize.
I use lava rock, but scrubbies or old tooth brushes are almost equally as effective, because in the end, every surface in the tank is colonized and covered with bio-film.

Pond matrix, but i heard media like matrix should have an air pump with in....dont know how true it is

No air pump needed. I use pond matrix on all my sump tanks. Cost effective and easy to bag a move if needed.

But at the end of the day, they all work. Just depends on your application (hob, canister, sump)

I use seachem matrix and Ehiem substrate pro in my 2262...my others are strictly mechanical.
