If Dovii's have been found at least 32", umbi's at 32", and temensis at 43", it doesn't tell us the maximum, median or mean for those populations. We can only guess at even the maximum size since of course it's unlikely the largest ones have been found and because we already know that most never reach full maturity due to disease, predation, ecological events, etc. We can also only guess at whether fish in the wild have ideal conditions for maximum growth.
I could go out tomorrow and catch a record breaking instance of any fish. But maybe I dont register it. Doesnt mean it doesnt exist. Just saying...

No, you cant.
And that is why these records stand for long periods of time, its not like they just starting documenting fish weights, length's etc.
Records are not easily broken, that is not how it works.
Not only that, but records also FORCE you to VERIFY the weight and claim. Its not just some guy, embellishing to his friends to make it seem larger, HENCE "fish tales"
Of course I could. Or any other joe. Or as mentioned some tribesmen somewhere. Is someone fishing to feed his village gonna measure? Probably not. Like I said, just because it hasn't been recorded or catalogued doesnt mean it doesnt exist. Who cares what the current max is. The previous max was smaller and the next will be bigger. Theres more to this world than what we write down on paper
