I wanted to break something earlier today when I got the chance to go out on my boat for the first time in like 2 months.

Had a 6-7 lb largemouth that dove into the weeds. Pulled the weed clump up with the bass in it. Touched a weed and it ran hard enough that it just popped my line. I regretted it and just should've used my net. It was a heck of a bass....going tomorrow again.

That sucks! I had a couple big ones break me off today too. I had a monster crappie on my line, my net was caught around the eye of one of my other rods, so I couldn't get it. I go to grab him and he dives back down into the weeds. He got off but I got about 10 pounds of weeds. All in all, today I got over 200 pounds of plants on my line. I'm not too sure what type of plants they were but there were three different types I was getting on my line. One looked like the aquarium plant camomba. But I had a good amount of other fish take the line into the plants and I lost them.

holy man that lmb is so small

there is no one single magic bait andrew. it varies by body of water due to environmental conditions. a bait that is on fire in north carolina is not necessarily going to work in new jersey. Keep using what works and you will get on fish.

Well said. Smaller fish are just more likely to be active because 1) smaller fish are in more abundance. Not all fish live to adulthood or make it to beast size, and 2) small fish are more likely to hit lures because they are not as experienced.

There is no bait that is only going to catch huge fish, you just have to put in the time to those 5,6,7 lb bass. I've been bass fishing since I was in my early teens and I've caught thousands of 1-2 lb bass. And there's nothing wrong with that. But I've also caught a handful that most people around here would have put on the wall.

Work the shallows, work the deep weed beds, fish in the rain, fish in the early morning. Keep at it and you'll catch that beast you're after.

Finally got my pig for the year. Set up about 8pm and the action was on. First fish was pretty small, 8-10 inches but as I was reeling it in a Northern Pike hit the catfish! It was crazy cool. Not a big pike, probably 20-23 inches, but obviously aggressive. I think the predator fish feel the fall/winter months coming and are trying to fatten up for the long winter.

Next handful of fish were good fighters all between 3-5 lbs. One almost dragged my rod into the river.

Last, but certainly not least was this beast. Had my 7ft heavy action muskie rod set up on the bank. I had shoved the handle about a foot into the mud to keep the line up and the rod tip where I could see it. I no more than cast the bait out and walked back to my chair when I glanced back and saw that the rod had fallen over... or had it, it was bending and wobbling, so I ran to it and grabbed it to set the hook. It was on. This guy fought good, and the muddy river bank and my mildly intoxicated balance made things quite interesting. Anyway, tired him out and got him in. My new personal best. Didn't have a tape measure or a scale but I know this was well over 30 inches.

Another good night on the river. B)

Nice car fish pic

I got to work early today there s a nasty lake out back lots of snake heads and a big fish I guess? Something broke new 50 braided line and a plug I tried to fight it had a 50 steel leader to what ever it was it was heavy and pulled like a truck It just took line plane and simple it's weird I need stronger test for fresh water lol

Ya it sounds like a monster snakehead. That would be awesome to catch. They fight like a small truck

Plus the bass may switch the prey items depends on the season.
