Where to get a monster tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I came in under $2500 for everything on my concrete 12'x4x4. Way cheaper than I could buy it, even if I could get it in my house. Just have to have some patience, a little guidance, and sweat. But I agree with the others, for tanks under 600 gallons Craigslist and the mfk market place are the places to watch and really a DIY won't save you much money unless you go BIG.

Is that a pond or does it have a viewing window?

110"x29.5" 3/4" acrylic window. Most expensive part of the build at $1050 shipped to my door from glasscages.com. I will upload a video of it soon, it has been up and running for two weeks and when I test filled it it took so long to fill I ( stupidly) didn't want to drain it all again to add my sand. Needless to say, hundreds of pounds of sand going through 4' of water made one heck of a cloud and it still isn't crystal clear like I would like.ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1379731992.346800.jpg here is a teaser pic though so people can somewhat picture what it's like.;)

Outstanding work!

Do you have a build thread or are you going to do a build thread?

Is the concrete fish safe or do you have to resin it

Sent from mobile app.

From what I've researched concrete can be harmful to fish but that is easily countered by using pond armor which I did. Concrete isn't 100% water tight so it has to be sealed. Pond armor is a little spendy, but worth the piece of mind.

Thank you i love it and wished i built it years ago. As for the build thread, I will soon. I didnt take a lot of detailed build pics but I will post up what I have and how I built it. IMO there is no easier way to build a monster tank. And I could have gone a lot bigger than I did for not much more money but I already had the window and didn't want too much dead space.
