anyone try one? seems like it could be a scam BUT is there any way a filter can COMPLETELY take out Nitrates? This is was this company is claiming its filters do and i quote

"The Aquaripure filter is a comprehensive biological filter which will completely process all organic matter and remove all nitrates in an Aquarium. These filters are known as a nitrate filter, nitrate reactor, denitrator, biodenitrator or nitrate removal filter. Other biological filters only convert organic matter into nitrates which then accumulate in the aquarium, physical filters only remove larger particulate matter, and skimmers do not remove any nitrates. The Aquaripure uses beneficial bacteria to break down invisible organic matter and nitrates completely into Nitrogen gas which then escapes into the atmosphere. This same process is even used by some water treatment plants to make wastewater safe for human consumption and to clean polluted water. The Aquaripure does this in an extremely safe and controlled environment and after the water from the Aquaripure is aerated there is nothing left but pure, clean, crystal clear water."

Directly from product description. I dont know what to think about this!!!! If its true i may have to get one and just reduce WC to once a every couple weeks instead of twice a week IF testing proves their claims. It is a canister BTW. Quite large too, the smallest one that is only for up to 20 gallon is 4.5" x 6.5" x 12". The site also suggests you could use it to purify your own drinking water. Im not trying to advertise these people, i just would like to know if its legit haha

Their Ads always appear on MFK when the word "nitrate(s)" are posted. I looked at the site.
The units are so expensive, with each one purging a limited number of gallons per week plus requires their own liquid culture. They probably work, but putting adequate sized units on every tank would cost a fortune, way more than our primary filtration.

Hello jlennon it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

now I have a couple weeks.

lol:popcorn: clicks =$$$$

I briefly looked into these and I think it was going to turn out costing a lot compared to just doing water changes, especially on larger setups. I think there were also concerns that this filter could interfere with other filters on your tank.

Ive been planning pothos but i simply cant figure out what to fill in the spaces between the basket the roots are in and the edge so no fish jump out! haha I know its not a very good chance they will jump in just the right way but my red wolf made it through a hole in the lid of my 70 i thought he had been too wide to get through for a couple months. Im lucky i was in the room and heard the noise.

I just found it and wanted to know if anyone on MFK ran it, im not in any way a lazy fishkeeper, wasnt hunting for a way to lessen WC really just found this interesting. It seems like it would be a HUGE cost but if you have the money for it that means you more then likely dont have the time for WCs on many tanks... so maybe if im ever make 6 figures ill invest in these haha.

I was curious about those filters as well but couldnt find anyone using one to give me feedback. Never heard of the pothos plants though. I have a few at home I should give it a try! :)

I was curious if there's a DIY way into making this kind of filter.
Could some kind if bio- reactor do the same thing?
Maybe a scientist on Mfk could shed some light?

Try pothos. Can't beat it for 10$-15$ investment. No added liquids or further Investment.

This. I keep a pothos colony in an old Marineland 60 HOB. My NO3 never goes above 10.
