Ray Qustion

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just looks like a normal reaction to adding new sand into the rays tank, doesn't look like anything to worry about :nilly:
Was the tank bare bottom previously?
If you persevere with it & be patient the rays slimecoat will adjust & the sand won't stick to it as much, no need for any drastic measures :)

sorry i take that back i saw his belly and it is red!!! Im taking out the sand now.. i will keep everyone updated... ahh this is going to suck

All newly imported rays have a red underside for the first month or so, again nothing to worry about :)

:iagree: with Flying Saucer Owner my motoros have that after they bury in the sand but when they start climbing the glass they shed it off. I don't think you need to worry.

I agree that this is nothing to worry about. My rays have been on sand for years and what your picture shows is a common occurence with them. They'll be fine. No need to change anything.

I agree with FSO. I've seen this when introducing new sand to my tank. This has always gone away within a week or so. Also I would watch how much water conditioner you are adding with water changes, as I found some conditioners cause the rays to slime up a bit.

Thanks for all the help everyone!!! I did take out the sand though and he seems to be doing great. I might try black graval has anyone had a problem with this ? And i know im probaly going to get flamed for this one but i video taped my self hand feeding him... dont mind the people talking in the background :P
