EPSOM SALT draws fluid from the body and is basically an old school last resort way/hope to save a fish.
Aquarium salt like API is a better idea but not knowing the real problems means you don't know the correct treatment! At that point you can only guess. If your introducing feeders or other un quarantined fish this may be the cause of it! It may have got picked on and stressed to death leading to eventual symptoms. At that point clean water and stress coat could of helped. At least you tried. Get that bigger tank ASAP
