test driving a car without intention of buying it in the near future

Glad you drove the Sierra as that may be my next truck and appreciate your review. On a side note I just bought a Cadillac CTS Coupe and never even test drove one. Sometimes you just know that is the car for you. I'm happy to report the car is amazing and I couldn't be happier. Good luck with your future purchase.

I'm no pro reviewer of trucks or anything but if you'd like to know more of what I think about it pm me. Before you go but any other truck definitely test drive the sierra first. If your someone who loves the sound of a roaring engine try to drive one with the 6.2 engine. The 5.3 sounds amazing. the 6.2 can only be better

I personally don't care if I waste a cars salesmen time. Its THEIR JOB TO SHOW CARS. get paid way too much because I decided to buy a car anyways. Not cuz they did a dang thing

Just go test drive it. Don't email or tell the salesman that's your intention cause they will just ignore you. Just go to a dealer so interest in it n let them do their job and take it out on the the road.

When I was 17 n just got my license I went to a dealer that one of my dad's friend worked at. At that time they had a dodge viper for sale and I got to take it on a test run. I'll probably never be able to buy a viper but to test drive one was good enough.

I just did the other day and they were cool about it. The guy even gave me his card and told me to call him when I'm ready

I've driven cars before without planning on buying them. I've told them upfront I wasn't going to buy at that time. They didn't have any problems with it and almost seemed to enjoy the drive like they were getting a break or something.

I did learn things on a few cars I liked that I ended up liking them less afterwards and the drive curbed my interest in that car(which, isn't that the point of a test drive?)

Hello; Go the various Silverado/sierra forums. There is a lot of information to be found. Some worthwhile and a lot like the stuff than shows up on this forum. Sift thru for the decent stuff.

I bought a 04 Silverado new and still have it. ( but only 36,000 miles and no hard duty) It has not been trouble free and I will do some looking around at other brands when I need another truck. I have owned Ford trucks and vans as well as a GMC sierra. I used to maintain and repair dodge vans for a carpet outfit. My brother has a 07 F-150 bought new. Hard to tell which brand is of better quality, they all have problems. Nissan and Toyota likely have decent trucks but they tend to come too loaded up.

I try to ignore the shiny stuff on a truck. Generally the more shiny stuff and the more gadgets a truck has, the more it costs to own and operate. My last two trucks have been pretty much work trucks with 4x4, AC, a stereo/CD and a tow package. A neighbor bought his 04 Silverado at the same time as I got mine. His was loaded up to the tune of an extra 18 K over my truck. Both 4x4's. About now his is worth much the same as mine. Having done some of the service work on both GM's I cannot strongly recommend them.

Even though I tend to like a Ford more than GM, I bought a GM because they were making the better deal at the time. The Silverado has been quite good on MPG's for a full sized 4x4 truck. Generally beats a bit or matches my brother's 2WD Ford.

Look at all the time you have wasted, yours, the internet guys, the floor salesman, ect. Stop being cheap and go rent one for a day if your so interested in driving one. HATE TIRE KICKERS!!!:nutkick:

But salesman and managers never waste the time of buyers with all there games? I lost track of how many hours of my life these people have wasted with their games. Almost always a nightmare buying a car every 2 years. To the OP go waste more of their time and get a little payback for me.:D

Hello; Those tire kickers you hate are the customers that keep you in business. You seem to want folks to just come in and lay the money down and not use up your time. The car dealers have set up the business model. When I go onto a lot and show an interest, the salesman usually says let me get the keys. I do not often have to ask.

I recall some years ago my mother wanted a new car. I intended to go with her. We had talked about finding a year old left over new car so she could save some money. You will likely be happy to know that, as she went without me, the salesman was able to sell her the model year old pontiac at the dealers added on sticker price.

It is so very hard to be sympathetic with your plight.

Yeah because everyone knows the best way to resolve an issue is to perpetuate the cycle! What are you a 9 year old? Anyone who is well versed in buying cars can avoid their "games". Just get pre-approved for a loan through your bank. Pick out a specific car, decide on your top dollar figure, have the bank issue a sight draft and tell the dealers I want that car and here is a check. I'm 27 and I'm on my 13th car. All but 2 are from dealerships. I never had a salesman waste my time. If they are uncooperative get a new salesman. If you put up with it then shame on you...
