Makin a Poo
Sup folks,,,

I'm thinking of adding a canister to my display.. Just a little info on the tank,
It's a 180 upstairs which my plumbing drops 16ft down to my basement which hits a 60 gallon sump, then drops 2 more ft & hits a 200 gallon Rubbermaid tub before it heads back up to my display... In my sump it's packed with filter floss & pond matrix, I'm thinking of adding a large or the largest Sunsun canister dilter I can find just for extra clarity & biological for the display tank. My question is anyone have any exp with these filters? I've read pretty good reviews on them, I don't really have the funds to drop on a FX6. I'd like to stay under 150.00 for this little project.

I have the biggest model with the UV in it and it works great. Doesn't get along too well with sand but if you keep the intake higher it shouldn't be a problem. For under $150 it's a great deal.

Save up for a used FX5 or Eheim. I have read mix reviews on SunSun products. Some people have had good experience while others have nightmares with them leaking.

Thing is used FX5s are hard to come by around here, & when they do come up they are way way overpriced & I really hate to buy someone else's headache or junk... It doesn't have to be a Sunsun but I have been going through tons of YouTube reviews on the Sunsun & some odyssea Fx5 knockoff, from what I have read & watched the Sunsun seems the better out of the 2. I'm just tossing the idea around in my head ATM but normally when that happens I be up making a purchase lol.

I was planning on using it to get some of the tiny particles out of my display that don't make it downstairs & using it to run purigen in it along with some more matrix.

If you do the Sun sun, use it for mechanical only. it does not store a lot of bio but it will work great if packed with filter pads and floss/purigen etc. It's also pretty easy to clean unlike the FX5.

Keep your eyes open... petsmart had a 1 day sale boxing day with fx6's at $175 new in Canada, may have been a similar deal in the US.

I was thinking maybe pads, floss, a ton of purigen, & I've got some extra bio balls but I don't have to use those just a though since is had some extra that are just floating in the small sump.

I saw this beast but don't think loving wife would go for it..

I have this on my 350 and love it and when I still had my 220, I had the cfs700 and loved it also. I've had this cfs14i for over a year and the 700 for over 2 years. Some have issues, but bottom line all filters do have some that have issues. Most if you take carrot them, they will all work great for you.

As far as I know the 304b is Sunsun's largest which is what I have X2. It comes with 4 trays. Each tray will hold about 2lbs of bio/ceramic rings. I think that's a lot of bio media imho. Got each here for less than $90 including shipping
