hey guys, ive seen some people keep their fish just by doing weekly water changes and doesnt care about the water ammonia, nitrite, nitrates, ph etc. and their fish seem to be doing just fine and even reach to adult stage. im just curious on how they managed to do tht. any explanations for tht?

If you have good filtration, a consisten stock level and a regular feeding schedule you pretty much know what your levels should be by the end of the week

+1 I only test if my fish are showing signs consistent with a water quality issue, which happens rarely

Yep,I rarely feel the need to test my waters since I have very mature filter systems on my tanks,I don't over feed and I do regular water changes.

I know what my water gets to at the end of every week (at least in my 30) and plan water changes accordingly. Though I do still test it every other week.

I haven't tested my water in who knows how long. Months and months and months. My fish are all thriving. If the water looks clean, smells clean, the fish are healthy and not showing any signs of stress that's generally a sign that your water is fine, as long as you've got good filtration(I run an fx5 on a 100 gallon) and do large enough weekly water changes.

I just always had a kit and never used it

Just having the kit physically present was enough to keep the water good. like a "beware of dog" sign keeps burglars away

I don't have a kit because if I knew what my water quality I would try to make it perfect and stress my fish half to death. I'm not too worried because my fish are breeding so the water should be pretty good
