Are your Fish Afraid of the Dark???

My fish embrace the darkness...How could they not tolerate it?

My asian bumble bee catfish goes ape sh1t with energy when I turn lights off. If you thought he was active with lights on (which he is) you should see him after dark!

Well... I believe it may have to do with their visibility through the aquarium glass.

But with the lights off my 1.5" p bass fry seem very skittish and hide all the time.

With the lights on they never dart away when I walk by. They are out in the open all the time and confident.

There is a possibility this could be a typical predator - prey response.
As in the wild when the big nocturnal predators come out.

Yea. My catfish do the same.

Maybe I should have specified Cichla.

Every young p bass I've had at around that size was skittish with the lights on or off but when I abruptly turn the lights on all my fish except the big dats dart around for a few seconds.
