The status of Asian Arowanas

If you really wanna do something, dont buy wildcaughts. From my understanding wild caughts are rare in the trade too.

Wild caught Asians? There isn't such thing outside of the native countries. They have to be micochipped to be exported.

Eh, where did you see em? W/ populations of wild Asians being so low I cant see the governments allowing real wilds to be exported. It could have been an early brood that didn't lose its wild look yet, F1.. or I could see it if it were in some public aquarium

I dont have much knowledge about the Arowanas. I was once offered a wc arowana if i remember correct. Now reading up on the whole situation of the wild aros, i doubt it was real.

Are you sure they where even Asian arowana?

I'm not a complete idiot :)

Didn't say you were. 90% 0f the people on this forum can't tell the difference between an asian aro and a jardini.

Well if you want to help legalize Asian Arowanas, there is a petition that if 100,000 signatures are made, the U.S government will reconsider. Please support this petition by signing and spreading the word. The link is http://wh.gov/lVNqy

It was only yesterday that I had to explain to someone in my LFS that the jardini aro he kept looking at wasn't an Asian even though he shouted "look at the Asian aro " to his mate about six times , he told me he's got a silver aro and that the aro in the shop looked like an Asian to him :banghead:
You'd think owning a silver he would have done at least a bit of basic aro research but clearly not the case he said his silver jumps out a lot , I asked if his lid was secure and he replied yes but its got a gap at the back because its not the correct hood :banghead::banghead:
I then proceeded to tell him that I've kept jardini for near eight years and the differences are pretty obvious :) the one for sale in the shop is a jardini (the tank is labeled too) and the 24" rtg in the shops display tank was an Asian
