720 gallon tank my first monster tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just went to the rent a place here in town to ask about renting a fork lift. They looked at me like I was crazy when I told them. I had a 720 gallon tank... found out they have 10 foot long forks so I have solved my problem of how I was going to get it out for of the enclosed trailer.. Now if I can get time off work and have some free time to get it out

Awesome pick up, you got that thing for a steal!

Also, welcome to the forums, plenty of info here to get that dream tank setup just how you want it. ;)

I'll be keeping my eye on this thread as I am very interested in how you'll be setting this tank up, as well as looking forward to seeing it complete.

i just looked at your build thread
i have been trying to figure out where to start with everything
you have answered so many of my questions about the sump, size pump to run how to set up the sump thank you

Glad you were able to get some ideas from my thread. I've been pretty happy with my setup so far, but there are lots of different ways of doing things, each with their own sets of pros and cons. I'm sure if you keep researching on here you'll find something that you'll be happy with.

Take your time moving that beast. I ran the specs into this calculator and your tank tips the scales at ~1,500lbs (empty)! With water it's going to weigh well over 3 tons; it's going to be setup on concrete slab, right?

You should absolutely check out native fish. Save money on buying and running heaters. Plus, contrary to most beliefs, there are beautiful native fish out there. I personally consider central longear sunfish a much prettier fish than any Africans. Plus, with that size tank, you could keep a bass and a chain pickerel. I'll post pictures of these fish to give you an impression.

GREAT DEAL. Even without the rocks it's a great deal, and I'd imagine you could sell a lot of the rocks and bring down the price of the tank considerably. I'd grab a chainsaw and go looking for a killer root ball/stump of driftwood, in the near future.

Yes it will be on concrete I would not trust it being on a wood floor even if there was bracing under just to much to go wrong
