Any smokers? Need advice.

As long you use a good device (go pure mech) and GREAT batteries youll be fine. Make sure you have a multimeter. The risks really start with crappy batteries or you start pushing sub .5ohm. Almost all my coils are 1.25 to .6 ohm.

My fiance vaps at 1.05 ohm (diamond coil wrapped by me). When I finally get around to rolling her a second diamond coil she will be around .6 or so.

I buy mine off ebay. If I was using a regulated id use one of the many sites Rip Trippers on youtube suggests. For me, pure mech is the way to go so a k100 suits me just fine.

can you explain what pure mech is exactly and what's the difference between pure mech and non pure mech?

and I don't know the terms you guys are using. ohm, sub ohm, the # of ohms, diamond coil,.......... what does all that mean exactly?

Depends on what I'm looking for. I usually buy my juice local but they sell mtbaker, Sirius vapor, bumblebee vapor. Online I have personally ordered juice and hardware from vapedojo, 101 vape, virgin vapor ( best juices anywhere imo) 101 vape has really good prices and sick shipping for cheap. Got a package from CA to VA in 2 1/2 days. I was impressed.

thanks, i'll check the sites out

Mechanical mods are kind of like flashlights. They have no circuitry. Just a high drain/safe chemistry battery usually 3.7 volts. Then you have hybrids and regulated mods ( usually referred to as a battery). Hybrid and regulated mods have a fuse in them. Ohms is referring to the resistance of the coil. Subohming is anything under 1.0 ohm (dangerous). The number of ohms your really determines the "power" the lower the ohms the bigger the clouds and increase in taste. The trade off is more battery drain. Batteries are rated in mah. That's milliamps per hour. The higher the mah the longer you can go between charges. The diamond coil is a specific multi coil setup for rebuildable drip atomizers.

^He hit the nail better than I could. Mech mods are often much cheaper but not always

Diamond coil is just the type of coil I prefer. This guy is one of my favorite you tube channels for coils. Rest of his vids are meh but those coil builds is where he shines.

I prefer my mechanical mod to be honest. It is the most consistent performance wise. I have a rsst with steel cable wick wrapped with stainless mesh and a 1.2 ohm coil and Have not had one dry hit or burn taste ever. But I have few different setups.

Do you guys think mech mods are suitable for a beginner? Most people on the e-cig forums are suggesting eVod kanger or eGo twist starter kits to get off analogs. I kinda like the iTaste VW v3 or the Sigelei Zmax v5 but I'm not sure if variable voltage/wattage is really necessary

I use the kanger evod daily. Variable voltage or wattage just allows you to control the power output. Some juices benefit from the extra power. I wouldn't recommend mods to a beginner. With mods the biggest thing is using proper legit batteries from reputable sources. Do you have a local vape shop you can go to?

I started on a pure mech mod. Use GOOD batteries, watch your coils (no shorts) and you will be fine. The risks start when you begin pushing sub ohm with crap batteries. Make sure your battery doesnt get hot.

We have 2 smoke shops in town but they're both super overpriced and only had offbrand stuff ("dab vape" I think and an itaste knockoff for $110!) so I'm just gonna order everything online.

I've spent the last few days researching after seeing so many people recommend them on this thread (congratulations btw JK47) so I have a decent understanding of the basics now, but I've only tried cigalikes a few years ago and never rebuilt coils so it might be a good idea to have a regulated mod to check for shorts anyways. I just want something small for when I'm around other ppl and something nice for at home that doesn't need new batteries every few hours.

Would you guys recommend the kanger evod over a vv kit like the ego twists or itaste vw v3? Or should I just jump straight into mech mods with good IMR batteries? I like that itaste the best because it has vw and passthrough but it's almost the same price as a zmax

Vapedojo has official kanger starter kits. Passthrough charging sounds good but it is terrible on the batteries cell memory. How urgent are you in need of a device? Because you can skip the middle man and order factory direct at cost with free shipping. You just have to wait 2-4 weeks. Fasttech is where a lot of the sites and stores get their stock from. My local shop is pricey too but. I get all kinds of free test devices and they stand by their equipment all tested and everything completely compatible.

In 5 years of using various e cigs, kangertech are best for atomizers, iTaste is best for batteries. Ive been rocking the ktech evod and itaste MVP for quite a while, you can't beat the MVP for long battery life and you can literally charge other devices from the MVP via a USB port next to the charging input
