hi there, is it necessary to have heater in your country? if it is really not necessary, i suggest not to on it.

i would also recommend you to re-cycle the tank and cultivate new bacteria to play safe.

He does need it where he lives

So what kind of heater did you have on the tank?...was it a thermostatic submersible or one of those old cheap, hang on the tank jobs that you have to keep adjusting to get the temp just right?

you just had the heater pretty much reset ur tank... Sucks, have fun starting over. I do think it will need to re cycle keep an eye on water

yeah, thats what i was thinking, just got a half a dozen tetras in the tank, to make sure nothing goes weird. but yeah, trying to decide what want to do next is fun.

A heat controller is a device with a temp set point, you plug your heaters into, and will shut the heaters off, if the temp in the tank gets too high.
The most common problem with heaters is getting stuck in the "on" position.
I never buy 1 heater to sized to fit a tank, but 2 or more under sized ones, so if one does get stuck, the others will hopefully turn off, and the stuck one will be too undersized to cook the tank.

this is a great idea, with the smaller heaters, my only concern with this was that smaller heaters will have to work harder, thus will wear out faster? i don't know if this is the case, i bought a Eheim Jager 250 to replace it, and I'm going to put a heat controller on it ASAP

Why would he have to recycle the tank if the bb survived?

it was an Aqueon 250 pro.

Did you purchase this new? They have a pretty good warranty and would likely give you a replacement. Some companies also make efforts when loss of livestock happens. It would not hurt to contact them.

But agree a heater controller is a good step.
