Should Donald Sterling be stripped of team ownership in the NBA?

What youre saying is completely inaccurate as far as everyone knew or was in position to do anything about it. I dont google every person in the world. Why would sterling be someone id look up? And as far as who knew - Ok, maybe you did not know...I will give you that. But EVERYONE in the NBA or in it's circle of influence knew. Everyone in Los Angeles knew. And certainly anyone involved in the banning of Donald Sterning knew. These were not secrets. When one of your NBA owners is on TV for weeks at a time while being sued for discrimination...GUESS WHAT..You take notice. And if you didn't know...one good reason to look him up would be so that you would know and you don't post comments coming from a place of misinformation or rather lack of information.

I'm pro fact...which is the only thing i have presented. BTW - Is the NAACP racist as well because they were going to give Donald Sterling a LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD...If they are supporting a racist, which I am not, then they surely deserve the title of racists.

I've been waiting to hear something from that chapter of the NAACP and there was someone from that group on tv yesterday saying something to the effect that as Christians they do forgive what Sterling has said and that they do not believe what he said is what is in his heart.

rmkblades (& others), did you read the content of above posted link? It delves into the legal applicability, and the weaker grounds of the disciplinary action.
The issue at this time, technically only hangs on a couple paragraphs within the NBA's Constitution and By-Laws. not the man's history, however unbalanced the application may seem in the big picture.
THIS time he is on tape (allegedly) directly requesting his private discriminations to be followed, to not associate with NBA members while attending games.

Why is it unrealistic? He definitely has the funds, he definitely should have the desire, & in case u didn't know, people tend to be comfortable & themselves around their close friends. They all go somewhere outside of the arena & a lot of what they do is not good. I know first hand from a NJ Net girl I know who used to tell me what goes on... Let's just say there is a real reason the basketball lines vary so much between home games & away games & it's not the rims! I'm sorry but I would love to see how they handled their lives being turned upside down!

The facts are, he's a racist bigot and finally was held accountable. Just because he said it in his own home doesn't mean anything! The vast majority of old rich white men are racist as all hell because they were raised in a time when it was socially encouraged to be racist. Hell its still happening, I'm not rich or even well off, I'm Mediterranean so don't look Anglo Saxon, grew up in the richest suburb in western new York and the crap I heard in school disgusted me. Literally to the point I literally DROPPED OUT, students, teachers, principals whenever they were alone they'd say horrid things. Old white rich men are the reason why that's still happening as nobody is born racist its implemented normally by family.

personally, I highly suspect that Sterling has a big (unstated) problem with the girl specifically broadcasting association with HIV+ Magic Johnson. Sterling is married, and that can create huge personal and legal stakes.
In parts of the recording I heard, Sterling minces around mentioning any specific individual and uses the broad term "you can sleep with "them",......." he just wants her keeping associations private.
I bet he felt more comfortable saying racial reasons, than he did any possible AIDS aspects.

because you'll never dwelve into 300 players personal history and deal with straight up invasion of privacy. the players didn't record him, the owners didn't record him, the dancers, parking attendance, team presidient etc etc. how would this benefit the nba? let's wreck our own product so it appeases tomka123 on mfk and mr sterling? it's completely unreasonable and would NEVER happen.

what makes you think players cheating is a secret anyways? you act like you know something no one else knows

how does one person even get 2 lifetime achievement awards in the first place? were they from different chapters of the naacp? i know the one he was suppose to get on may 5th is from the LA chapter. i guess i should google it but truth is i don't care. just glad he's gone, not because he's racist but just because he was TERRIBLE at owning a team and putting a winning product on the court. that's enough for me. the more good teams in the league, the better the product.


oh and petspoiler, i did read your link. i think regardless of if they can legally strip him of his team, they can make his life so difficult that he won't be able to put a product on the court that can contend and draw in sponsors. his organization could become toxic. the mlb did it with frank mccourt.
