Not really slender given the time it was caught. This same fish will have a 24" girth in a month. Most of the really fat fish are caught late season after they bulk up for winter.
They have such a high metabolic rate in the spring/summer they go from fat egg filled slobs to trim toned fish. Then go back to the egg filled fat slobs just before the winter.
If I can make it out a few more times I should hopefully be able to show the transition of them on this same lake. Just I duck hunt so fishing takes a back seat for the rest of the season. I'll be hunting up to ice on the lakes and then some.

Fished the Schuykill River outside Philadelphia Friday night with the girlfriend and managed 8 flathead in 4 hours. Largest fish of the night was 29" 11lbs caught by her. Also we both managed to catch the same fish two hours apart that had a case of scoliosis

Some nice fish in here.
I picked up my largest fish of the year today. I was targeting Large Mouth Bass, but ended up with this big guy.
I apologized for getting him all muddy and sent him on his way. He got even though; when I released him, he kicked some mud in my mouth haha.
I wear size 13s, so I'd put this guy at 2'+.
