Convict x Oscar

Hello,

I have a male convict cichlid and a female oscar in the same tank. Would I be able to breed them? Would they guard the fry and would the fry be able to breed?
[ I have a red tail catfish to eat any fry that I don't want ]

I bought it as a female and it is 10 inches long so i believe the previous owners.

I would think you can [they bred red devils with convicts] but i could be wrong.

Plus one, oscars haven't been proven to breed outside there genus. Not possible

Its never been done and besides... IMO its wrong to cross breed species. This is how the legitimate species get diluted by impure rubbish.

I wouldn't be worried about trying to cross Oscars I'd be worried about that red tail catfish it is going to eat a lot more than fry... Don't know the size but doesn't matter I'll give your convict a couple months then it's lunch meat.

Unless it's in a different tank?
