Thanks... It's took quite a while for me to get access to the species... I was lucky I didn't have to order... As far as the critique...Its all good I look for and appreciate any constructive feedback... They are full bellied in the pictures and full bellied because of the pictures.... I guess it would appear that I'm consistently overfeeding if every pic you see they have bulging bellies.... I don't feed them like that all the time just when I'm taking pics ...I feed them to get them in better position.... after they grab the food then settle somewhere in the middle of the tank chewing the food... Otherwise when I sit in front of tank they spend their whole time hovering at the top and it's near impossible to get a good pic because they stay on the move.. I will admit by the time I get a shot that satisfies me they may have eaten quite a bit lol ...and I have been taking a lot of pics lately but I definitely don't feed them heavy every single day...The previous pics were taken earlier today here is a couple from just a few minutes ago without feeding....

A couple of shots of the male 1 on a full stomach one not so full.....

Possibly moving the motas to my 150 around New Years.... To see if I could keep them in the same tank without divider.....

Nice fish. They seem to grow pretty fast.

Thanks...seem to be growing fairly well to me ....neither the fastest or slowest growing cichlid i have ever had....still under 5 inches at this time...what I am seeing also is a shift of behavior of the male to looking more pre spawning type ...digging and flaring and displaying near the divider...

First picture is when I left home second picture is when I came home...
If they can get over around or through a divider they will dig and go under.....

I know the feeling. I received 4 istlanums at 2" (free) that finally made their way around the divider. My 2" female dovii have laid waste to all but 2. The other 2 are beat to a pulp.

I need to free up a full tank before i get motas considering the cost to get them here. The only space I have would be divided with grammodes which are some tough customers

Sorry about the istlanums... Great looking species.... my motas seemed to be getting along on the same side of the divider...at first.... Then I looked a little closer I could see that the female was getting descaled and fins getting shredded... Wasn't immediately noticeable because she was not actively moving about the tank just staying in one general spot ...I ushered her back to her side of the divider which she cooperated very willingly..... I was prepping to move them to my 150 but I'm going to hold off and let the female recover some since she looks stressed... Anyway you got the right idea about getting a full tank ready.... Need all the room you can get with these guys.....
