  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Very nice looking gars, abit out of subject....about the clown loach, mine do the same they always the first one to investigate anything I put in the tank lol

Hana yeah they're audacious little guys. Fast and precise swimmers too. I tried to photo the behavior with no real luck.CAM03407.jpg

Anyone have any powerhead advice? They seem to either play in it, or stay out of the current altogether. Is it a bad thing for this species? Should I expect them to eat tonight, or is it more likely that they will hold off for a few days?

I think they don't care about power head or not. Swimming together is normal behavior for them(or most fish as well) as they are just get introduce into the tank at the same time. Eating right away or not is depend on the fish but give them a few days to settle in. They will be ok without eating for a few days at this size.

Thanks for the good advice hung. Before they arrived and now. Someone should have told me how incredible these fish are :p I've been standing in front of the tank all day in awe.

Good looking gar. What do you intend on feeding them?

They are great to keep. I have had mine for over 16 yrs now.

So I've heard. I read that thread several months ago when I first decided I was absolutely getting a pair! Congrats on your gar! That's dedication! I have a 9 y/o polypterus Senegalus that has been with me since he was a 2" little guy! Its rewarding to keep fish for life!

I have about 50 ghost shrimp in the tank, all gut loaded on massivore. I alsoplan on giving them freeze dried krill and frozen krill in addition to massivore as soon as I can get them to switch. My hope is that massivore will be the staple, everything else treats. How big is your Florida now? What have you fed him throughout his life?

Nice looking gar! Glade they came in a bit bigger for you. Just got a new florida gar a week or so ago myself. He just started eating yesterday! Just like my other gar, picky little snots. Anyway best of luck to you and keep the pics coming! They look great!

nice gars and setup; maybe add some moss and plants on that drift wood? i think it'll look a lot better that way jmho.
