Pothos - How do I get this into the tank?

Ok, so I went to the plant store and got some more pothos vines....



I added them to the tank and 20 hour later the water parameters are all sitting at zero....

(Tried to upload pictures but the incredibly well designed (sarcasm) android app is not allowing me to upload any pictures!

Seriously a monkey could design a better app....)

For you people that add a tiny amount of pothos or any plant and expect results or "see" results in under a week its all lies. It does not work that fast. Im getting sick of seeing all these posts and people going omg everything is zero! Doesnt work like that, wont ever work like that, its not how this works. This plant game is something that needs to be well established, tank size dependent, stock, feeding schedule etc etc. The only tank I have had that was 0 nitrates forever was the 75gal BEFORE I had to rescue a pleco and put in a small crappie. I have arrowheads comming out of the canopy and pothos going on the floor, takes a long time for things to truley work.

The 300 I wont even get into that, besides I have a 40gal (4x2)box above it full of plants...

I havent read the entire thread but i never said that... I just have some in mine to 'help' with nitrates, i still do large regular water changes on my tanks :/
 
The opposite can be said too, there are lots of detractors and naysayers on the boards.

I see posts all the time where people make outlandish claims that "you would need an entire room full of pothos to make a difference with nitrates"

While it is true that you do need alot of any sort of plant to "eliminate" nitrates that isn't the point of pothos. It's not to eliminate water changes or make nitrates nonexistent.. it's a tool I use to help control nitrates between large frequent waterchanges. I take many measures to keep nitrates under control, like keep my bio media clean, change my mechanical media weekly, don't overfeed for my bio load.

The 5ppm reading isn't owed. Entirely to the pothos, I don't want to lead anyone to believe that. But I do believe it's a crucial component of my attempts at keeping nitrates under control.

For some reason I can upload pictures, but i have had consistent zeros for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate for nearly 48 hours now.

Im not saying that it is completely the Pothos, I also have 11L of Marine Pure 1.5" spheres which are denitrifying, my tank fully cycled and I was just posting the results of the tests but i cannot upload the images to this thread.

Whether it is the pothos or not, I find it highly strange that in my test last week i got the results below 24 hours after a 75% water change:

and the results after adding the Pothos on friday is zero across the board!!! the first thing is the cycle has fully completed, but that does not explain why my nitrates have dropped from the above results to zero....

Does anyone know if pothos can be fully aquatic? I just saw a guys tank and hes had pothos under water for 3 weeks and they appear to be doing fine... Im worried about mostly if i try this, what would my fish do if a leaf falls off and they accidentally eat it...
 
Pothos cannot be submerged long term, it is not an aquatic plant.
Roots work submerged, not leaves.
In order for it to control "some" of your nitrates, you need a fairly healthy root system, something like this.

The tank above is about 2ft tall.
