Well at least for me illegal fish are very easy to find but it's the price that's crazy like 10-20× more then it would normally be but it's supply and demand I suppose and yes that was a random comment but if I can't share my random fish thoughts here then I don't kno where I can.

mekong giant catfish, red tail cats, goonch, arapaima, wels, and many others

Mekong catfish is an herbivore that eats algae lol, red tail cats only get max 4ft- no way-, arapaima- I don't think mouth is big enough and they would never try to eat a human, wels and goonch a possibility

That is an ugly looking fish. Would be afraid to pet it. Hard to believe it is related to my boy with a beautiful grin.

I was just thinking if u where a native American and lived on a reservation u could have any fish u wanted right? Pending the chief leaders would allow it right becuz technically Native American reservations isnt considered US soil they have their own police and laws.
Almost! But there is a reason why the treaty is created in first place. They can't just take anything from nature randomly as there is a quota for them to prevent abusing natural resources which is still a big problem on native reservations and the nearby towns. Personally I believe that we should get rid of the treaties so they cannot abusing the natural resources anymore.

What's the point in them having sovereign territory if the gubmint can still come in and tell them what they can and can't do?

The chiefs have to compromise with fish/game dept and set a quota that wouldn't hurt the natural resources and clean up their act because some of their people are just bad apples. Poaching, illegal netting, illegal wanton waste, overharvest etc....are quite regularly near or on the reservations.

But how would keeping certain fish illegal in ca but legal in other states hurt any part of the wild life?

Wels catfish are some incredibly impressive and monstrous fish in my opinion, so they got my vote
