Almost! But there is a reason why the treaty is created in first place. They can't just take anything from nature randomly as there is a quota for them to prevent abusing natural resources which is still a big problem on native reservations and the nearby towns. Personally I believe that we should get rid of the treaties so they cannot abusing the natural resources anymore.I was just thinking if u where a native American and lived on a reservation u could have any fish u wanted right? Pending the chief leaders would allow it right becuz technically Native American reservations isnt considered US soil they have their own police and laws.
The chiefs have to compromise with fish/game dept and set a quota that wouldn't hurt the natural resources and clean up their act because some of their people are just bad apples. Poaching, illegal netting, illegal wanton waste, overharvest etc....are quite regularly near or on the reservations.What's the point in them having sovereign territory if the gubmint can still come in and tell them what they can and can't do?
