Silicone for large tank rebuild?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
then you looking in wrong spot, they both carry for a calking gun, dap, or GE

again long as is 100% silicone. nothing else.

So the one above will work fine even though it says not for use in aquariums and it will be strong enough to hold? I just don't want the tank to explode or bust because the silicone wasn't strong enough. It is a lot of water.

but again, if its 100% silicone and nothing else you are good to go. no mater who makes it.

I have a caulking gun at home. And I have found DAP and GE but all I found was ones that said not for aquarium use. Every silicone there said it, except for the one I posted first and it is only in a 2.8oz tube. Which will just not work. I found ones that said 100% silicone but it also read on the back that it was not for use in aquariums.

So basically, even if it says that it is not for aquarium use it is fine as long as it is 100% silicone 1 and does not contain any mold and mildew resisting agencies?

ignore the not for aquarium use, once again if it is 100% silicone you are fine long as you give it its curing time, 36 to 48 hours.

Okay. Well it will have plenty of curing time before it is ever put to use. I am having to rebuild almost everything. The stand has to be fixed. One whole side of glass has to be removed and replaced and the whole thing needs to be re-sealed. I am also adding two 6"x18" braces at the top and building a frame for the bottom to add even more support. I am also doing DIY trim for the top so I can make the trim thinner and plus the trim on the tank is junk. I am also going to add DIY sliding glass tops. So, I have a lot of work ahead of me. It will be a fun experience though. I have never actually had to replace glass on an aquarium. I have re-sealed an aquarium but it was much smaller and my boyfriend had aquarium safe silicone that he had got for his old job so I used it up. It was only a 45 Gal corner aquarium so a small tube was good enough. I also didn't have to replace a whole side of glass. This tank is much larger and I need a lot more silicone for everything. I appreciate your help!

this is what i used on my last tank re-seal.
