Long tanks low volume

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I didn't appreciate these types of tanks until I got into plants. I've been wanting a 48x12x12 for a very long time now.

i have a 48x12x12 lol use it as a planted tank for my axolotl :)

I thought I had commented on this thread already, but apparently not; I've just been enjoying all the great tanks and ideas silently I guess. This was a great idea for a thread convict360. Since reading it I've been thinking about all the benefits of such tanks.

I finally finished on the gutter project which means the 10 gallon long is at the forefront...but, the wife put the Christmas in the spot for where the tank is going to go so, another delay until after the holidays.

I'll get some pics up tonight of the project I've been working on, its basically an attempt at a little stream for white cloud mountain minnows, not a biotope as I have wood and different plants.

Next step is to get some pothos to do a riparium style :)

As promised. Some floating plants in there, can't remember the name; once I add pothos, I imagine I'll be doing water changes something like once every 10 years haha, the minnows are tiny in there. Added xmas moss too, waiting on some Java arriving.

Didn't go with anubias, its too big for the purposes of this tank; I do however have some anubias gold Nana which is a lot smaller, possibly making an appearance...

Also given that this tank looks bigger than it is, I took a pic next to the api master kit, for scale

Damnit, seeing some of these tanks is making me itch to setup a shallow river system styled tank... sadly knowing thats not going to happen (anytime soon ;) ), so i will just have to live through everyone else's setups posted here...

lol you can help me while I work on mine :D since I'll probably be tinkering with it for ages to come. It is a pretty cool style of tank, the low water volume is what makes it sweet too; a good option for people that aren't allowed large tanks etc
