Long tanks low volume

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In the tank from this thread, which is technically 12 gallons of water just now; with some minnows. Overstocked, and many water changes for me lol
When I was a teen u put two fire bellies in my 55 and the next day everything else was dead.... I thought the newts were toxic or something. Guess it was my maintenance

It was only my third tank and first with amphibian/fish combined, so it very well could have been me... I was heart broken over my axolotl though... The whole tank kinda started smelling like the newts, a subtle but unique smell. Tank was fine for a year before that and the newts were mine from a smaller terrarium.newts Continued to thrive in my 55 till I gave them away... Best of luck

:/

What smell? I've got this tank in my bedroom lol, there's no way they'll stay in this room if they smell funny :(

I wouldn't worry about the smell it was really subtle just the difference between them versus my fish or axolotl.... I'm a little hypersensitive and it never bothered me I had mine in bedroom as well basically had to stick my face in the tank....just a strange thing I noticed when cleaning out the aftermath. And they are cool little guys

:) I've got bloodworm and stuff on hand, I reckon I'll put a little in the water column; maybe some on the bits of wood that stick out of the water...hopefully they'll sniff it out and come up for a search lol

I've wanted to keep fire bellies since I was a kid, so its cool to have them now lol

Finally, I believe I started planning this back in August.

I'll work on the inside later. I'll also remove the airstone/pump.
