Good idea.We refer to that as DHS here lol.

Interesting topic. First things first, protect yourself with no trespassing signs. I like the idea of doing something to keep other pests out with the secondary benefit of keeping the kids out. Here is the thing: any injury or damage to property (clothing) will lead you to issues if it is on a shared fence. That will be a big downfall for you as it could be argue if the fence is adjoining their property you have an obligation to make sure the fence (and any associations) are safe. Therefore I think you have to do something passive aggressive on your own property. I'm sure something clever can be thought of, I'll think more on it.

Problem is since kids are involved you are sewered regardless. In Canada the doctrine is called allurement. If there is anything on your property considered attractive to children, which can be virtually anything, you have a much higher duty of care to ensure your property is safe, even for trespassers unfortunately. Therefore you will really need to think of something that will be a nuisance but will not cause injury or property damage. This will be tough I think.

I would also try stinging nettle. When its needles hit you it feels like a bunch of bee stings.
