I guess you may be right... I didn't go into much detail on it, but he designed and built a water change system that I wouldn't refer to as automatic, but assisted. I have a 17 gallon tub for water storage and a pump mounted in the stand. The pump can take water in the tank and out into the yard which is about 40 feet away. The tub is connected to the water line so I can fill it in less than three minutes. I'm only able to do my daily %40 water changes with this system.

I'm not sure. It may be cooler if he was younger, but he's in his mid forties.

I was planning on over stocking a bit, or a little more than a bit... He was planning on building a 55-75 gallon sump because I need a filter upgrade and more water volume.

The money went toward those two Veil Tails at $40 a piece for 3.5-4" and my Firemouth that I believe to be Female (I'm sure someone who knows more about sexing them can pitch in). Yes most smaller lfs are pricey due to competition with larger pet chains, and online competition.
 
What would you say about the fish? Do you think I paid a fair enough price for them? (I mostly mean the Angels, those were expensive compared to the other averaged priced fish in the tank)

$80 for those two veil tailed Angels is insane.
