Yep and if some third world resort can afford it then certainly Disney can damned sure afford to do so eventhough they are in the middle of a giant swamp.

Yup lol and from what i read there were life guards near the lagoon at a wading pools for the kids.... maybe false sense of security

Like K krichardson hit on with all the resources Disney has you would think they could come up with a solution that makes everyone happy.

Fence worked just fine on the resort i stayed at.

Look all im saying is a simple sign stating gators present would have been enough for me to say that i lm not staying in this resort with my kids and murphey's law.

This wasnt africa or the outback was a privately owned resort. I get the point that maybe parents are too lax now adays and can see that side of the argument. But disney was aware that the gators were lossing their fear of humans, staff reported this to mgmt also stated that guests were feeding gators at a nearby resort, also requested that a fence be put up.
Fences don't generally work. The fence worked at the resort you stayed out of dumb-luck simply because they didn't FEEL like digging under it. if they wanted to dig under it, nothing could have stopped them. It's not about the resort or where in FL you decided to vacation. The same thing could have happened ANYWHERE in the state, as well as most of Texas, parts of Arkansas, Oklahoma and the whole of Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, South Carolina and most of North Carolina. It doesn't matter. Same deal, same reptile, same possibility of outcomes. How many DOGS can dig under fences on a daily basis? If a dog can do it, a Crocodilian can do it better
Frank what are you referring to in New Orleans?
Building a city below sea-level and thinking water is just going to never find it's way in.

What about burying fences 3 ft+ in ground?
Doubt it. Might work, might not. No Guarantee. They dig deeper than that to aestivate in winter. Even a concrete footer could be dug under if it wasn't deep enough

It annoys me at the naivety of humans thinking we can control Nature. We sseem to think we are the dominant lifeforms on Earth, when in reality, we are on the menu for a lot of carnivores if the opportunity presents itself

Dude i'd venture to say your average tourist may not be as knowledgable in the feeding habits of gators as you are....

BUT what say you to the repirts about staff warning management ? Reporting feeding at a nearby resort ? Gators climbing into log raftd meant for guests....even requesting that fences be put up

Your not understanding disney had a prior knowledge of a pissible danger. Having a no swimming sign means nothing.

What would you have said if the child was killed out of the water ? This was not some nature reserve

still, the same thing could happen anywhere in the SE. U.S.

What if it had happened in Tampa Bay on a resort? They aren't common but ONE American Crocodile has been found in Tampa Bay. Does that mean there should signs, swimming restricted, No Swimming, etc? You're implying every resort in the SE. U.S. should have signs warning of Alligators, but what about bears, cougars, mosquitos, ticks, scorpions, spiders, etc. You think they don't already know what animals live on their hotel/cabin properties?

Like I said before are we gonna fence of the entire coast because there MAY be sharks and there are resorts all over every coast on the country? You get attacked by a shark on a coastal resort in the Ocean, bay, gulf etc, you can try to sue the resort all u want. Good luck, you were in the ocean and you know sharks live in the ocean no matter how old you are.

Your dancing around the fact that HOTEL STAFF FELT THE NEED TO COMPLAIN TO MGT...... DISNEY WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE KID COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN ATTACKED OUTSIDE OF HIS ROOM.

All kidding aside no ones faulting the gators frank. And maybe the parents should have been more vigil. But no matter how you cut it disney knew that posting signs would hurt biz

But why is this particular resort different from any other? it could happen anywhere. Like I said, if the resort had knowledge there were Mosquitoes and someone caught malaria, is it Disney's fault too?

I honestly doubt it would have hurt business at all, TBH. No differently than any other warning sign for dangers posted anywhere else. Fl still remains the #1 tourism-generated income place in the U.S.
