Is my gulper growing too slowly?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, how long and what shape in the fish in? Photo would be good too.

Apart from this, I'd not worry yet. They are very sedentary and can go for a long time w/o food.

Well luckily 4 days ago he started eating. Ate 2 full tiger shrimp. One on Friday and one Monday. I put another last night we'll see if any luck. But thank you all for helping me out, and keeping me from going to giving into the goldfish.

I'd continue with offering frozen fish too as this should account for 2//3 or more of its diet, not crustaceans.

Im going to try pieces of tilapia (filets), but are there other kinds of fish that are better for the gulper/easier to wean him on? I also have the silversides but they are super tiny so already it would take 4-5 to just satisfy him.

At first approximation, I'd not think the fish species matter. What can matter is that whole fish is the best with head, bones, guts, scales - a more or less total nutrition package.

One could try and find some fish species closest to what gulpers usually prey on in the wild but I think this'd be an overkill.

If mostly nutrition-poor fillets are offered, than a soak in Vitachem would be desirable, or high quality pellets could be stuffed in the fillets.

I just got mine earlier this year and they are all mating like crazy. I think all i need is a clay pot for them to spawn.

Well no eggs yet but looks like mating. They rub tails all the time but today I put in a pot so hopefully.
