You guys use soap on your fish tanks? A little Windex to clean the inside of the glass?

Ah HELL, why don't we all just dump a capful of Mr. Clean right into the filter and give the fishes a BATH while we're at it......why not? A HOB and Washing machine's outflow looks the same, if it looks the same it must be the same.

I wonder how many Zoos, Public Aquariums, and Professionals use SOAP and DETRGENTS on ttheir fishtanks.....

I quite often have dawn dish soap on my hands and forget and work in the tanks lol but no I would not use a soap container for anything fish tank related unless it was an inert use like a stand as you are trying to point out lol.

that another geat point to bring up, and over the past decade or so one of the reasons a lot of people started using hand sanitizer in between tanks and wait until they are completely finished to wash with soap. But you are right I have had this debate w/ soap residue on your hands coming off in your tanks as well. Hand sanitizer is alcohol and again once it dries, the "leftovers" evaporate.

I look at it this way, of all the soaps, dawn is like the least concerning when it comes to wild life so if a bit gets in the tank in a sudsy state, it most likely will end up diluted and on top of the water. hand sanitizer doesn't exist to me, I live in the country, spit on your hands if they are dirty, city boy.

CITY BOY????!!! WELL....I NEVER!!!

I laugh good with this one :P
Although, I used hand sanitizer often just cause I don't want to get sick (folks around me getting sick all the time accept me....) so I do not want to put my hand in my tank...Imagine if I forgot to wash my hand and do in tank work/maintains....

I use windex on glass tanks and acrylic cleaner on acrylic tanks. I never spray the tank. I spray the microfiber cloth. I wash my hands often (especially between tanks). I then use hand sterilizer and let it dry before I put my hands in the next tank.
I used to not use the sanitizer and only started using it when I developed a reaction to bloodworms. Before then was just Dawn dish detergent with anti-bacterial agents.
