Hello. I plan on getting a couple of argentea in the future and was wondering what the common max size is for them. He would be placed in a 125 by himself once i get my keeper. I know some get 14 inches but do all? Is 12 to 13 more likely? I have a 14 inch midas but know they dont all get that big. Is that the case with argentea?
Thanks

Given enough time I think most male argentea will hit 14 to 16 inch, also think most midas will hit 13 to 15 inch, it's just most die at a young age.

I agree with dan518, my most dominant male hit 14" in about 2 years.
And unless you had an atypical individual, in a 125 gal, an alpha would only tolerate some type of non-cichlid shoaling dither.
I also believe growth is mostly influenced by lots of water changes, I try 30% every other day as a goal.

Thanks guys! I plan on getting 4 from mikes cichlids and picking the nicest one and keeping him solo.

Mine grew very slow. They're 10 inches after 2 and half years. If you get some that grow like mine, just get 5, put em in a 125, and wait. It's gonna be a long slow ride.

As for a 75 gallon....I wouldn't put 4 in a 75. Maybe 1 for a while, but not 4.
