The Bifa's are from Rio Chacamax. they're the ones cichlidsoftheamericas.com sells. I think mine are both female, but they've never shown any inclination to breed or anything--just a total guess based on body shape. One IS bigger than the other, though.
Mine look great, but they don't have the size. Their body shape is just not quite right--like they're still juveniles. But they're over 2 years old. Gotta be adults by now, right?
I'm thinking very seriously of buying 12-14 of the best stock I can get and starting a breeding project. If you want to perfect fish, sometimes you just have to breed em yourself.
Yep, that Syn is nasty now. Not quite as bad as that Zonatus was, but he's in that league. And he used to look terrible, too. I thought he had worms or Hex for a long time. He had a sunken belly, long lanky kinda shape, fins always clamped by his side.
