Red tail, two sovelnoses, and a Asian redtail

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
very cool... I suggest you remove the gravel and put sand in much easier to maintain.. moreover ammonia will be less of a problem.. The waste will build up under the gravel and cause a ammonia spike... Very nice fish good luck

Unless you are vigilant and make sure all is eaten and vacuum weekly, sand is more foolproof than gravel but overall ime the difference is negligible for someone who is vigilant. Sand is easier though. Another thing is current, which may blow sand into your filter.

Having played with substrates, I went to bare bottom.

All the negative comments aside its only short term I am going to upgrade for all of them to live more comfortably. It's a passion I love them like children
I'll be "that guy" here. Whats short term mean? These fish all need quite literally massive tanks, tanks that even a lot of the seasoned fishkeepers on here don't have. That rtc alone is going to outgrow that 90 in several months. I'm just saying unless you plan to have a couple thousand gallons of water in your home relatively soon these fish you love are going to be in far less than optimal conditions. I'm just being the hard truth guy here because I hate to see this go south for you and the fish sooner rather than later.
I have a 310 gallon and I wouldn't dream of keeping any of these fish in it for more than a year or two.

Have to agree with him on that, my tank is the same 310 and i decided against even one rtc allone because of that. The biggest i would try is a bagarius because it grows way slower and there are some people who would be interestet in a big one if it was necessary to sell him.

(or of course silurus glanis, since i can just bring that species back to nature here or into my pond)

He knows about the upgrades. It's been said, oh, only 20 times already in this thread to the point that it made me, an unrelated person, feel uncomfortable :) We shouldn't ostracize and annoy each other but support and build up. :) These are my $0.02 however. Feel free to shrug it off.

Anyhow, welcome back, Danny! Good job. Looks like your fish have grown well. The tank looks adequate too at the moment. Is this your 100 gal that had a gar? If so, where is the gar now?

Tell us about their growth and whatever else interesting you have noted or learned, if you will.

Am I missing the ARTC?
