Just saw this video, someone is misinformed

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
OMG. Those vids are physically and emotionally painful to watch. I actually feel sorry for this guy. But, he does seem really secure in his total ignorance of each and every subject matters he covers.

I put Wayne over Dustin just cause one doesn't make me go partially deaf every video and has plants that don't cost an arm and a leg.

What's the minimum size tank for a mermaid?? I have a bathtub, but there's also a local pool that I can "borrow".

I'll play devil's advocate here for a bit. Maybe he only feeds once a day, or maybe there's more than just the Angelfish in the tank that we can't see because it's densly planted.

Or maybe he overfed idfk.

my reply to the big fella....

Ok big dawg....I love the message you are preaching...I however can't respect the amount of misinformation you've put out in the video.

1. Pacu are NOT piranha. They are mainly herbivores whereas a piranha is generally piscavorious (They eat fish).

2. Alligator gar aren't native to the two rivers you mentioned...at all...on point that they shouldn't be in an aquarium setting but again the misinformation was a no go for me. They are way way WAY further south than what you mentioned.

3. Stingrays are a very maintainable fish for a semi-experienced hobbyist...They are super sensitive to water quality and some species do get huge BUT I don't think they should be on the list of species that shouldn't be in the trade....its far more feasible to keep a leopoldi (Joey's species he kept) or hystrix ray than it is a red tail catfish. The same goes for the arowana. Its a fish for an advanced hobbyist but again much more attainable than the first few species.

Lastly I'm again very ok with the message but the way you come off gives the hobby itself and us a bad name. Get your facts straight first...and also come join MonsterFishkeepers.com with the rest of us and learn about the species and the hobby you just spoke highly of. We have members with tanks capable of holding aros, RTCs, pimas, and rays and they do! Learn first and come back strong on this message!

That's the first time I've seen him but you guys are right. His heart is in the right place but he's definitely lacking a little knowledge.

Was looking scrolling through to find Pred's comment and everyone else's when I found this:

His heart definitely was in the right place when making it. The problem is that it seems as if he was rambling about each fish instead of adding good research along with his personal experiences with some of the fish listed. For example the statement about the Gar and describing Pacu as Piranha (or comparing without specifying the actual differences).

Although he did mention MFK, so he's more than aware of the site. At most the video is good to show beginners getting into the hobby fish that they may not be yet able to care for.
