Black blotches on Dovii head?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not trying to be disrespectful but why not make some money off the only RQ X Dovii hybrids in the world?
because they are hybrids and you can't trust people to distribute or rehome them properly. I have sold FHs 6-7 years ago and when I went back to one of the stores, they changed the label to "Red Devils" and when I brought it to their attention, the owner said "Well, they weren't SELLING". I'm responsible for providing the hybrids even though I MADE SURE I told everyone who bought them "Make sure you sell them as FHs and tell people they are hybrids".

You can not trust people. Money talks and hybrids pollute bloodlines so badly its getting nearly impossible to find certain species nowadays. Do the responsible thing and keep them out of the hobby.

How do you know the eggs are even viable? Are they clear or opaque?

I agree, got to make sure they are distributed intelligently. I have nothing against hybrids as long as they are labeled and sold as such.

2 comments...i don't attribute black marks to hith. I believe the female mammon gets behind decorations and Dovii sooooo excited he tries going through barrier rather than around. But soak his food with vitamins and give large variety just in case hith with much water change. And the hybrid issue...myself personally I sometimes let species cross breed to see how pups turn out but NEVER distribute into circulation. I feel hybreds have made things difficult for us. In the last 10+ it is nearly impossible to find a 100% Trimac high quality but every store has crap Flowerhorn available. It is almost to the point where you wonder do Texas exist or all carpintis...do midas exist or all mydevils...do too quality Burundi exist or only inbred lines...the answer is yes Trimac, Texas, Midas, good blood frontosa/gibberossa exist and are out there but usually require searching for. Not like when I used to pick up 3 top shelf Festae for $5 comparable to what we fly in now $125 a pair. You know what I'm talking about: continuous bars, Tall body, much spangling, deep red female and greenish males, long fins all with perfect mouth.....

And to clarify for record I like a good Flowerhorn but most aren't high quality. It's like loving original muscle cars or Harleys but every once in a while turning you head to see a sick Ducati

Frank I'm usless with cichlids lol. I'm not sure about it

I have seen no eggs but the Dovii always shakes at her and I'll see her shaking back sometimes. I have a pike cichlid and the Dovii forces the pike to stay under a drift wood and when ever he comes out the Dovii attacks him ficiously till he goes back under. But allows the Rose Queen to swim around with him even tho he could kill her at will if he wanted to. They sleep together and the Dovii dug out half the tank where all my clay pots are and they swim in side of them a lot. I believe I haven't seen eggs cuz the tank is to small for them right now. But that 220 won't be
