Lol! I'm wondering, your poly looks young and it doesn't have those little external gill ear-thingys. Why does mine still have them? He's almost 5 1\2 inches now and I thought they'd be going away by now. must be different depending on the species?

Its depends on each individual poly, some will keep it till 13" some 3".

in high stress situations they can grow them back but if they keep them longer it doesn't necessarily mean their stressed
