Easiest thing I've found for a 4" sock is 4" PVC pipe. The sock fits perfectly inside. Just drill holes at the bottom and you're set!
What size socks are you planning on using ? Im using 200 micron in the smaller sump and 50 micron in the big one. The 50's clog up fast but keep the water cleaning looking
I was planning on just using 4" socks, but when I saw this BRS holder, I thought I could run a 4" inside a 7". Then, the 4" could be 2-300 microns to pull out majority of solid material, and could be replaced every few days. The 7" could then be 50 microns to catch the remaining fine solids and would probably not need to be replaced as often. Both would be 14" long.
I would run this setup for both of my main drains and then my emergency drain will just have a regular 200 micron 4x16" sock.
At 4 inches it might clog up just as fast as the 7" 50 micron. Just a thought could be wrong though.
Well, I'm looking into converting my mechanical filtration over to filter socks. They will be hanging in a section at the end of my 55 gallon sump. What filter sock holder do you all recommend that I can hang on the sides of the tank?
If I had your sump, I'd get two of these with 4" × 14" socks. I like two separate giving more flexibility in case you had to run PVC at odd angles.

The two in one idea may be difficult to get the 4" inside the 7", you may have to cut the plastic hook. They have socks with ties too.
