Is this a texas or jack Dempsey cichlid

It's no dempsey nor Hybrid.

It's a H. Carpinti. x H. Cyanoguttatus
aka LFS texas cichlid.

Animal guy I'm not expert at all when it comes to Cichlids. Still learning about them. Always have questions. That's why I usually post when I have questions or not sure about something. Thanks for the info.

A classic example why common names should not be used in this hobby, especially when it comes to cichlids. And why everything that you read on the WWW should be taken with a grain of salt. (animal guy) lol
