Gulper tank size and decors?

I just got my first gulper catfish yesterday. Currently im putting him in the sump. im planning to get him his own tank soon. But im not really sure how big the tank should be? would he do best with or without sands and decors? All my other big tanks are tile bottom so i wanna have something different for this little monster tank.

75g would be great. As far as substrate do what you like just make sure nothing sharp that can hurt the fish. Same with decor.

He'll be miserable if unable to hide or rather squeeze into a hide. Place a rock next to front window and it will squeeze in there and you will always see it.

+1 I was going to suggest this as well but wasn't sure if it mattered for them because I've seen set ups without hides at all

Me too. I could be wrong and should not have generalized. I just noted that mine feel better when they have their squeeze hole and can come out at will. Still, mine did ok in a bare tank.
