no where in the NFL players agreement does it mandate they stand.
hello; You are correct in that the language does not mandate, but the language does allow the NFL the option to require standing and the option to punish. It was that the NFL chose to not take the option to enforce.
Go back several pages of this thread and you will find I have already discussed this.

Mind pointing me to where or summarizing what you believe was said? I have read the entire thread and am unable to see where the CBA was brought up.

Hello; I get and think I understand your points. The players who kneel and the NFL can use the wording to get a technical way out. That does not matter to me much. I am upset because of what I have seen even if there were no written rules at all.
I am under no written rules to stand and honor the flag ceremony, yet I do. A word game around that the players should stand and they may be punished does not impress me. I think the NFL needs to punish the kneeling players because the word may gives the option they can use if they want.

Hello; It was in the Official NFL discussion thread. I had been posting in that thread for a time and eventually started this thread so those who wanted to keep on about the games. My mistake but I found the post and have included it here.

The terms "should" and "may " need to be replaced by '"shall" stand and "will" be punished. I get that the current wording gave the NFL a way out and that they took the weak path by not taking the option. This cost the NFL a long time viewer. I have been watching NFL games since the 1960's for sure, maybe even earlier.

Think I have posted this before, but if they do not show the players kneeling, or talk about it, then it will simply go away, I think it is going to go away any ways in the next season or so. It will just get old and meaningless.

It seems that that has been their recent tactic...not focus the cameras on any kneelers and pretend that it is not taking place so to speak......now if the newsmedia would just shut up about it it just might have a chance at going away.

it well become old news for them to. They do not make money showing crap that folks no longer care about and want to hear about.

Hello; I read recently that next season the teams may be kept in the locker rooms until after the flag ceremony. This would have been good enough for me if it had been done right away this past season. Next season is late and the protesters were allowed to did respect the flag for months. My preference now is for the teams to be on the field and a rule that the NFL employees "must" stand with the helmet in the left hand and the right hand over the heart or no longer be employed. Enough of these half measures.

now if the newsmedia would just shut up about it it just might have a chance at going away.
Hello; That the media does not show the protests will not actually mean that the protests have stopped. The NFL at this point needs to make a clear "mandated" rule about this and enforce it. No more of that "should " stand and "may " be punished.
It is too late for it to just go away.

...just heard that NASCAR,the NBA and the NHL will be showing the Please Stand ad.

The nfl might be finally having some competition in a few years as Vince McMahon might be restarting his old pro football league.
