Controlling Operating Cost on a Large Koi Pond

I find it an oxymoron to control cost on a property like this.
I have to agree.

Gosh, I’d love to live there. I’d be out there every morning at sunrise with my coffee and a blanket to just lay by the water and watch the fish.
I have major cabin fever right now. Lol

Yes! They give me my fish fix so I don’t go crazy waiting for spring. Lol
Although, as much as I love my tanks my pond is always calling me. Maybe because it mixes the great outdoors with the fish viewing I love. It’s just relaxing on another level:)

One week after backwashing both Ultima it continues to run strong with no lost in flow. Decided to let it run for another week without backwash to see what would happen. Water is crystal clear. Also noticed two ducks swimming in the pond today.

Here's the flow after two weeks of no backwashing of the Ultima.
I did backwash it today and the effluent was dark .

I would think with a beach front house in SoCAL $440/M in pond maintainence is nothing it’s like buying a Bugatti and not wanting to pay the gas. Huge oxymoron
