how do you guys protect your real wood flooring from water damage?

earlier today my ac110 sprung a a leak, filter floss clogged and pushed and sponge and media out spilling water out over the top. not that much water spilt since the GF was home to stop it and clean up. no water got underneath ( I hope) since stand has wood bottom.

what can be done to protect the floor and keep it dry?

Just be super careful and clean up any spills that happen... also a dehumidifier helps if leaks occur and you need to dry floors back up...

Nothing that wouldnt look bad (that i can think of). Even the gym flooring wont protect the floor depending on how much water is spilled and where you spill it.

Pick up some poret foam for swiss tropicals. I cant remember if im using 20ppi or 30ppi but its much better than the crap that comes with the AC and you can stop using the floss.

Pretty sure im using 30ppi. Get a 2 inch sheet of it. Cut it to fit. I put two sections in my ac110. Its easier to clean 2 thinner sections than one 4 inch block

It's not only the spillage (which is a given), but there is always going to be some dripping from condensation on tubing, piping, and from popping bubbles, etc.
I had a few tanks on hardwood floors, and when I tried to sell my house, I ended up doing a lot of repairs to the floor, and dry wall behind the tanks before it could be sold.
I would probably never put a tank on a wood floor again.
Stone tile or concrete is no problem, or where other simple, inexpensive repairs to dry wall behind the tanks could be fast, and easy, but real wood, I would think twice.

Try locking the floors

I have a 210g tank I was planning to put in my living room but after having that leak ima kinda worried about it. I might build a tiled platform to sit my tank it over the wood flooring. might do it it for my 150g tall too, the tank I had the issue with.

Try locking the floors
what does this mean . went right over my head

Well. I lock my doors and floors if they are made out of real wood.
Basically it is a paint that is clear but prevents water from getting through. Chances are if you have an outdoor porch or something that is made of wood it is locked...

Home Depot sells buckets of it.
Do some research on it. Cause it also depends what wood you have

FYI - filter floss will always clog up before the AC foam, an AC filter (if using floss) should be set up with AC foam block at bottom - to catch larger/coarser particulate matter, finer media on top of that (floss if you prefer) to catch finer matter, then bio media on top of that. I've been running AC's like that for as long as I can remember, mine all still have AC 500 stamped on them. lol As long as you keep an eye on the finer media near the top, and clean them on a regular basis (depending on your bio load and overall maintenance) you should never have water coming over the top.

I usually put the floss first since I just toss it without having to clean the sponges. I do WC and clean the filter in Saturday's this is the first time it's gotten that clogged before a Saturday. I know it's not the "right "way but it's worked till now, gonna rethink it now
