Clown Loach Discussion

Am I able to feed this to the inhabitans of my 125 exclusively for the same period? Just to cover both angles?

As R.D. says in post #11 I'd do both, feed hex shield and then treat with either levsmisole or flubendazole. Yes, you should de-worm all your fish at the same time.

from small LFS size to 6" usually only takes 1-2 years, with a small number exhibiting slower growth (possibly stunted,

Well that seems crazy fast growth to me...In 2 years 6 inches...But I'd agree in 3 years they can reach 6 no problem.
I personally avoid using the word "stunted" when it comes to clown loaches because given the same conditions, some of same age grow exceptionally fast, others not so...

In scientific papers, artificially bred clown loaches have been recorded to grow exceptionally slow in the first few months of their lives...

The females seem to grow faster and bigger length wise and girth wise.

In 2013 I bought a 5 inch loach. In 5 years she's grown to 9-10 inch, roughly 1 inch per year. She's gravid.

Yes, my observed growth rate averaged 1 inch per year, faster at the beginning and slow down substantially in later part of a 10 year span. There was no sign of aging, still as cute and active as in youth which is a sign of long life.

And of course female Clown Loaches are more popular as they are the bigger ones.

I have definitely noticed that trend going on about clown loaches....Large clown loach collectors end up with tons of females and so far from reading on possible breeding, the ratio of males to females should be at least 2:1. :) Not that they'll ever breed in captivity :) but we're not even setting up the possibilities right....I certainly have no hope with my males to females ratio....

Ok guys, Ive revamped the scape. Major upgrade imo :) Had this piece of wood laying around, big cave structure underneath with more rocks in the middle with plants to play in

I think the changes you made look great & people have given you great advice so far. What was the final number you decided to go with & how are they doing? Clown loaches are hands down my favorite fish. I love watching their antics within the school & w their tankmates!

I have 3 clowns that are 18yrs old & 4 additional that I added a couple years ago. They all school together. My 3 old guys have been thru the ringer w me learning as I go! Got them in college, so they have been moved to at least 8 houses! Mine aren't nearly as big as ppl on here are saying they should be(only 6-8") but maybe that's bc they spent their first 15 years in a 72g? I upgraded to a 125g & then finally now to a 180g with 2 reticulated stingrays.

Mine are tough, boisterous, play dead, eat from my hand, greet me every time I approach the tank, are never shy, & are very active all day. They are eager eaters: love cucumber, tetra crisps, shrimp, krill, & blood worms. They get along w a huge variety of tank mates, although sometimes I think they are so outgoing they annoy the other fish. My 2 largest fight for dominance every time I put in cucumber, but otherwise rare & never hurt each other more than a couple scratches.
