First tank related issue. The Fluval E series 300 watt just could not get tank temp up. It has stayed at the sane temp for days and has been showing 79 and blue despite being set much higher. The thermometer in the tank was only showing about 75. The 65B that I'm using is in the garage and while force air heated, it is not as warm as the house. I replaced it with an Aqueon pro 250 watt and it is actually heating.

So tank details for those interest in the equipment. 65B custom tank with 1\2" glass. Filter Aquaclear 110, Aqueon Pro 250 watt heater, Current USA satellite led (The cheap corded remote type)

The plastic grill is blocking too much flow. The heaters work fine when they're removed.

I have another one of these on my 65B puffer tank and it works fine. But this one is inside where the ambient temp is higher. Kind of defeats the purpose to pull the guard in order to work. Smart heater not so smart. Seems like a power head directed at the heater should work too...

I have two and neither one worked without removing the grill. I have sumps so neither the grills nor the suction cups were needed. They're still my favorite heater but I'm probably going to get a Ranco temperature controller and plug them into that for an extra layer of safety.
