I like how the head is thick and round, also marking is visible for a newbie.Good call mate! Suspected as much
Yeah its contrast set it apart from the other laps in the supplier's tank so I figured if I got it and managed to get it happy and stable it would turn out to be quite an eye catching piece. Will post updates!

The larger 18” lap has settled a little since the last update. Hopefully it’ll come into its own a little more especially with regards to the contrast on it gill plates
Yeah that is why I bought it.. came with some worms and seems a little stunted though so I'll have to work to try and fix that
