The fish looks a lot nicer in person. Basically it's a beast and photo makes it look just average.
So asking price is $1800, I can chip off another hundred, sell the fish for $xxx and walk away with a clean 2 year old tank with all the trimmings.
Issue is, the acrylic is 7/16" and therefore bows slightly which leaves me feeling uneasy.

Man for Orange County, that is a rip off. For $1k you can get a 240g in your area
Hmmm either math is off or you meant 8x4x2. Either way have never seen a brand new 500 gallon for $2500. 240 gallon 8x2x2 for $2500 at 3/4” acrylic more likely$2500 buys one a brand new 500 gal 8'x2'x2' made from 3/4" acrylic.

The $1800 is absurd IMHO. The tank's worth perhaps $500. $2500 buys one a brand new 500 gal 8'x2'x2' made from 3/4" acrylic. The fish can bring you $200-$400.
All acrylic tanks bow, from slightly to substantially. Usually not a problem but can lead to crazing sooner or later, especially if the acrylic sheets used to build it had not been annealed.
